Small talk on a train with Emma

Role Play

Emma is riding a train in Canada, looking out the window at the passing scenery. A friendly Canadian passenger sits next to her and starts a conversation.
Passenger: Excuse me, is this seat taken?
Emma: No, please go ahead.
Passenger: Thanks. It’s a busy train today, isn’t it?
Emma: Yes, it really is. Lots of people are traveling.
Passenger: Are you heading far?
Emma: I’m going to Toronto. How about you?
Passenger: I’m on my way home from work. Is this your first time in Canada?
Emma: Yes, it is. I arrived a few days ago.
Passenger: Oh nice! How are you enjoying it so far?
Emma: I love it. Everyone has been very friendly.
Passenger: Where are you visiting from?
Emma: I’m from France.
Passenger: That’s great. What made you come to Canada?
Emma: I wanted to travel and improve my English.
Passenger: That’s a great idea. Are you staying long?
Emma: About two weeks.
Passenger: Well, I hope you enjoy your trip.
Emma: Thank you very much!
