A Wild Weather Weekend

Last Saturday began quietly for Maria, with the sky completely overcast and thick stratus clouds blocking out the sun above the city.

She hoped the day would brighten, but dark cumulonimbus clouds soon rolled in, signaling that a powerful storm was coming.

The rain changed to icy sleet, and a sudden burst of hail rattled loudly on rooftops while people hurried to find shelter.

The snowfall grew into a blizzard, reducing visibility to just a few meters before the storm finally began to weaken.

By mid-morning, thin cirrus clouds appeared, and through them Maria noticed beautiful crepuscular rays of sunlight.

A light drizzle first made the streets damp, then quickly turned into a heavy downpour as strong gusts bent umbrellas and soaked everyone.

By afternoon, lightning flashed and thunder cracked, and to Maria’s surprise, snow began falling during the storm - thundersnow!

The next morning a rainbow appeared. Maria reflected on the most unpredictable weekend of weather she'd ever seen.
